-
Core Skills at Each Level – Multiple session types at each level. A Session type focuses on the same skills but adds additional exercises we can use to build the understanding of the skill for both us and our dogs.
-
Getting Started
-
With a package of Flex Manners Credits you will receive a welcome email. The email will contain
-
Information on setting up your portal password
-
Access to the Orientation material. This is information about the spaces at Carolark and a few exercises that are often best started in a quiet environment like home
-
Visit the Links on the website or in the email to register for a class
-
Where do you start?
-
We would like you to start at Level I so we can help determine what level you are working at if it is beyond Level I.
-
We add information to your dog’s profile that makes additional levels available for registration
-
You can register for Flex Manners Sessions in any level your dog has completed plus one level beyond the highest completed level.
-
As with all learning a little bit of stretch is good but setting the learning bar so your dog can get things about 60% right is the right place to start and build toward greater proficiency before moving to the next level. If learning is too hard we loose our learners in frustration and lack of succuss (reinforcement /enjoyment/success and a little challenge keeps us all in the game). If a session is too easy both you and your dog can get bored. You can always give us a shout if you think you should start at a level beyond Level I.
What do the Session Names Mean?
-
The names of the sessions are there for your convenience to choose a session that adds additional ways of working on the skills for the level.
-
Each session incorporates exercises for the target set of skills at the level. We have created multiple groupings of exercises to help with learning and to keep it fun.
-
You are welcome to take the same or different sessions as your dog builds skill. Think of it like a sport’s practise with kids. Som times you do an exercise you have seen before sometimes you do a different exercise that focuses on the same skill in a bit of a different way.
