What is in the modules program

• 1 - online Introduction Session (this must be completed first prior to the package of in person modules and office hours being available for purchase)​

• Inperson and Online office hours 

  • 5 In person Learning modules

  • 5 Available Online Office hours for your questions

  • Class handouts and Support Materials

 

How and Why Puppy Modules

• Start Anytime  - puppies have age appropriate shots and have been in your home for 2 weeks

• After the Module - Introduction you can purchase the package and take the other modules in any order

• Schedule the components to fit into your life. 

  • If you choose to attend more than 1 session in a week space them out with a day or more of rest between.

  • Cancelations of a booked session can be made up until 36 hours prior to the session allowing for the unexpected schedule shift or illness

• Credits in the package expire after 3 months

  • For Large puppies plan to complete the modules by the time your pup is 18 weeks old

  • For Smaller puppies plan to complete the modules by the time your pup is 22 weeks old

• Each class has some skill elements, some socialization elements and some handling for grooming, general care, and veterinary care.

Module - Introduction

• Completion of the introduction module gives you the ability to sign up for the remaining 5 modules. 

• This is our way of  getting you off to a great start and ensuring we have sufficient modules scheduled and available. 

• This module is online and provides you with

  • Information on Puppy topics like biting,  socializaton, alone time,  crate/confinement training

  • Time for questions on puppy training, socialization and handling

  • Information on booking and using the modules

 

Module 1 - Recalls

• Socialization : Other Puppies and their humans, Surfaces

• Skills: Starting Recall, Attention to Handler, Name Response

• Handling: Collars and Collar Restraint
   

Module 2 - Leash Walking

• Socialization  : Other Puppies and their humans, Interactions with Novel objects and situations

• Skills:  Leash Walking, Positions (Sit, Down and Stand)

• Handling:  Equipment On Me
   

Module 3 - Resource Guarding Prevention

• Socialization: Other Puppies and their humans

• Skills: Let’s Go, It's Yer Choice

• Handling :  Guarding Prevention - Safety around food bowls,  Feet and Nails 
   

Module 4 - Leave It

• Socialization: Other Puppies and their humans,  People  objects like wheelchairs, skateboards, umbrellas…

• Skills: Beginning of Leave It,  Toy Exchange and Drop,  Leash pressure means move with my handler, Attention to Handler

• Handling:  Introduce Muzzles and Equipment

Module 5 - Body Awareness

• Socialization: Other Puppies and their humans,  Novel Movement and body awareness with baby agility

• Skills: Attention to Handler, Trade, Leave moving objects alone

• Handling:  A game of Veterinary Simon Says

Why Is It Important?

• The first 2-4 months of life for a puppy is the most important time for socialization, their brains are primed for the introduction of  the novel world

• Puppies should be exposed to other dogs, people, animals, stimuli, and environments where they feel safe and calm.
