Classes

Novice Scent Detection

$175 (HST included)

 

1 hour/week for 6 weeks

PREREQUISITE

Good Manners Level I or equivalent.  Dogs should be people and dog-friendly and fully vaccinated.

 

WHAT YOU LEARN

This class is an introduction to the sport of scent detection. This class will use the target scents used by The Sporting Detection Dog Association. Sporting Detection is the fun and competitive version of scent detection.  In Sporting detection, legal, easily obtainable target scents are used. The dog learns to locate a target scent and alert their handler to its location. Detection is a partnership sport in which partners must rely on one another.

Scent Detection - Skill Development and Searching Beyond Novice

$160 (HST included)

 

1 hour/week for 6 weeks

PREREQUISITE

Novice Scent Detection or equivalent.   Dogs should be people and dog-friendly and fully vaccinated.

 

WHAT YOU LEARN

This class builds on the introduction of scent and searching.  The class runs as an open enrollment class. This means you choose your start date and can start at any time.  The instructor tailors the week's lesson and activities to the teams participating.  We work on expanding your skill and understanding.

 

Scent work is a great mental exercise. It is tiring.  It can help a dog with its confidence and it is an easy game to play in your house.

Rally O Novice

$175 (HST included)

 

1 hour/week for 6 weeks

PREREQUISITE

Good Manners Level II or equivalent.  Dogs should be people and dog-friendly and fully vaccinated.

 

WHAT YOU LEARN

Obedience with a twist! Rally O (Canadian Association of Rally Obedience) was established in Canada in 2002 as an alternative for those who wanted to have fun with their dogs and train to a higher standard but didn't want the edge of formal obedience trials.  Rally O is a competitive team sport for dog and handler teams.

 

Achieve a higher level of training with your dog in a fun and exciting way with the potential of a competitive sport if you would like.

Rally O - Sequences and Refinement for beyond Novice

$175 (HST included)

 

1 hour/week for 6 weeks

PREREQUISITE

A Novice Rally O class or equivalent.

 

WHAT YOU LEARN

This class expands on the set of skills taught in Novice.  New signs are introduced and course navigation and smoothness is incorporated. This is an open enrollment class. New items will be introduced weekly and the content adapted to the teams enrolled.

Treibball Basics

$113 (HST included)

 

1 hour/week for 4 weeks

PREREQUISITE

Good Manners Level II or Big Dog class.  Dogs should be people and dog-friendly and fully vaccinated.

 

WHAT YOU LEARN

Treibball is a dog sport that originated in Germany and entered the sanctioned competition in 2008. Similar to sheep herding trials, the dog must herd and drive large exercise balls into a soccer goal.

 

Treibball is a fun way to play with your dog! It promotes teamwork and communication between a dog and their handler. It’s great fun for an energetic dog who needs a job or a dog who likes to herd and doesn’t have sheep!

Agility: Jumps and Tunnels

$113 (HST included)

 

1 hour/week for 4 weeks

PREREQUISITE

Good Manners Level I or equivalent.

Dogs must be at least 6 months of age.

Dogs must be fully vaccinated and not fearful of other dogs or reactive on leash.

WHAT YOU LEARN

Put your dog to work! This class is an introduction to agility jumps and tunnels.  This will give you a brief taste of a small aspect of agility.

 

Learning to connect with your dog while off-leash is part of the fun of agility. For dogs, exploring how their body moves and trying new things is often a confidence booster.

 

This is a small class  (4 teams). 

 

Note: Dogs who are fearful of other dogs or who are reactive on-leash are not a good fit for group agility class and should instead inquire about private agility lessons.

Agility  II: Contacts, Weaves and Handling

$175 (HST included)

 

1 hour/week for 6 weeks

PREREQUISITE

Agility I: Jumps and Tunnels

Dogs must be at least 1 year of age

Dogs must be fully vaccinated and not fearful of other dogs or reactive on leash

WHAT YOU LEARN

A continuation of Agility I.  This course introduces you and your dog to navigating weave poles, contact equipment and follow handling cues.  

 

Learning to connect with and direct your dog while they are off-leash is part of the fun of agility.

 

This is a small class  (4 teams). 

 

Note: Dogs who are fearful of other dogs or who are reactive on-leash are not a good fit for group agility class and should instead inquire about private agility lessons.
