Why This Class
You aren't quite sure what various dog sports/activities are about. You're not sure what activities your dog finds more engaging or fun. So the answer is Try-it. A different focus each week to provide you a brief introduction to some of the activities and dogs sports available.

The class runs as an open enrollment (start at any time). Start when you can and in the 4 weeks you will see a little bit of each activity

Who is this Class for?
Teams who have completed Good Manners Level I or an equivalent obedience class. Dogs should have foundation skills started such as sit, down, sit/stay , walking politely and recall in a mildly distracting environment like our classroom.

Novice Scent Detection
$210 (HST included)
1 hour/week for 6 weeks
Why This Class
The capability of your dog's nose fascinates you. You want an activity to challenge your dog's skill and provide enrichment when it is really hot, really cold, or it's a really busy day and your outings needed to be shorter. Scent training is fun. It speaks to most dog's strength .... the capability of their nose and olfactory senses is legendary. Scent sports are a team effort. You need to learn about your dog and listen to them so you can interpret when they have found what you are looking for.

What You Learn
This class is an introduction to scent detection. Sporting Detection is the fun and competitive version of scent detection. In class we use scents that most dogs are comfortable with to get the learning started. The dog learns to locate a target scent and alert their handler to its location. Detection is a partnership sport in which partners must rely on one another.
Who this class is for?
Good Manners Level I or equivalent. Dogs should be people and dog-safe and fully vaccinated.
Scent Detection - Intermediate Skills and Searches
$210 (HST included)
1 hour/week for 6 weeks
Why This Class
Your dog has learned about finding something with their nose in a fairly simple setting. You would like to work on tougher search scenarios. You would like to teach your dog a match to sample..... perhaps you are missing one sock in a pair or one.

Scent work is a great mental exercise. It is tiring. It can help a dog with its confidence and it is an easy game to play in your house.
What You Learn
This class builds on the introduction of scent and searching. The instructor tailors the week's lesson and activities to the teams participating. We work on expanding your skill and understanding including working on match to sample (e.g. here is one sock find the one that has a matching scent)

Dogs who have completed Novice Scent Detection or equivalent.
Dogs should be people and dog-safe and fully vaccinated.

Treibball Basics
$150 (HST included)
1 hour/week for 4 weeks
Why This Class
Try something new!! A herding game you can play with your dog, with your dog moving away from you, gathering a target ball and returning that ball to you.

WHAT YOU LEARN
Treibball is a dog sport that originated in Germany and entered the sanctioned competition in 2008. Similar to sheep herding trials, the dog must herd and drive large exercise balls into a soccer goal.
Treibball is a fun way to play with your dog! It promotes teamwork and communication between a dog and their handler. It’s great fun for an energetic dog who needs a job or a dog who likes to herd and doesn’t have sheep!

Who is this class for?
Your dog has completed Good Manners Level II or equivalent. Your dog and you are interested in trying a game that includes movement, some precision and cooperation between handler and go. .
Dogs should be people and dog-safe and fully vaccinated.

Agility I: Jumps and Tunnels
$150 (HST included)
1 hour/week for 4 weeks
Why This Class
You want to try agility with your dog. This is a gentle introduction to agility obstacles and handling. We have smaller contact equipment to fit our indoor space.

What You Learn
Have fun exploring agility in this introductory class. Learn foundation handling skills that support your relationship with your dog. Teach your dog to run through tunnels, over jumps, A-frames, and stop on Pause Table. Learn short sequences at a comfortable pace. Enjoy each new accomplishment as you grow and work as a team.
Focus: Tunnel, Jumps, A-Frame and Pause Table.

Who is this Class for?
​
Good Manners Level I or similar and Recall skills are necessary.
​Dogs are comfortable in a room with multiple dogs and people in a moderately exciting and distracting environment.
​
Small breed dogs should be 6 months old or older, larger breed dogs should be 8 months and older.
Dogs should be human and dog neutral/friendly and up to date on their vaccines.
​

Agility II: Dog Walk and Teeter
$210 (HST included)
1 hour/week for 6 weeks
WHAT YOU LEARN
Continue to build confidence with tunnels, jumps, frames, and the pause table.
Learn to navigate the dog walk and teeter. Refine your handling skills. Guide your dog through longer sequences.
​
You can take this class more than one time to work on your dog's is comfort and fluency with all the obstacles, prior to advancing to level 3.
​
Focus: Tunnel, Jumps, A-Frame, Table, Dog Walk, Teeter.
​
PREREQUISITE
Agility I: Jumps and Tunnels skills are necessary
Dogs must be fully vaccinated and dog and people friendly/neutral

Agility III: Weaves and Sequencing
$210 (HST included)
1 hour/week for 6 weeks
WHAT YOU LEARN
Increase the challenge with advanced sequencing at a faster pace.
Master known obstacles and add the weaves. Further advance your handling skills.

This class is for dogs and handlers who are proficient with the skills of Agility II.
Focus: Tunnel, Jumps, Frame, Pause Table, Dog Walk, Teeter and Weaves.

Agility II: Dog Walk and Teeter

Dogs must be fully vaccinated and and dog friendly/neutral.

Canine Hoopers I
$150 (HST included)
1 hour/week for 4 weeks
WHAT YOU LEARN
An introduction to the sport of Hoopers. Hoopers is a fun dog sport that is ideal for dogs and owners of all ages and fitness levels. Dogs learn to navigate a course of hoops, barrels, and tunnels with the direction of their handler. The fun of Agility with equipment at ground level and aimed at your dog working a greater distance from you as your progress.
We will introduce the equipment and some handling basics.

Good Manners Level I: Some basics are well underway.
Dogs must be fully vaccinated and not fearful of other dogs or reactive on a leash

Canine Hoopers II

Continued skill development in the sport of Canine Hoopers.
Hoopers is a fun dog sport that is ideal for dogs and owners of all ages and fitness levels. Dogs learn to navigate a course of hoops, barrels, and tunnels with the direction of their handler. The fun of Agility with equipment at ground level and aimed at your dog working a greater distance from you as your progress.

Caning Hoopers - Sequencing
$150 (HST included)
1 hour/week for 4 weeks
WHAT YOU LEARN
​
Enjoy refining your handler skills as you guide your dog through sequences.
You will focus on small sequences while increasing the challenge by building more obstacle value and handler distance. Improve your verbal and non-verbal communication skills while having fun guiding your dog through and around the tunnels, hoops, and barrels.
​
This class is designed for you to take as many times as you want, as long as you want to keep playing.
​
PREREQUISITE
Ideal for dogs that have taken levels I and II, and/or who are comfortable with all hoopers equipment, have at least started working on directional cues, and are comfortable working on small sequences.
​
Dogs must be fully vaccinated and not fearful of other dogs or reactive on a leash.
​
Note: Dogs who are fearful of other dogs or who are reactive on-leash are not a good fit for group hoopers class.
