Staff Training

To keep our clients up to date with the latest methods in training the staff have been busy attending seminars from some of the world’s most renowned trainers and behaviourists.

October:

Sandy Crosby has just returned from Atlanta where she attended the 2010 APDT (Association of Pet Dog Trainers) conference which was an educational adventure she’ll long remember. It  provided up-to-date behavior studies, training methods, business development, health and nutrition sessions and much more.  Presenters that gathered from across the country shared their tales of exploration and expertise in interesting, interactive and informative ways that left her feeling uplifted and inspired.  Sandy also enjoyed her visits to  the Exhibit Hall for  demonstrations, explored educational materials and other products, networked with other professionals and of course caught  up with old friends.  She returned with fond memories and lots of knowledge that she will share with all of the staff so that the information can be incorporated in our training classes.  We will all benefit from Sandy's experiences! Thanks Sandy!!

In May Nicky Barham, Carolyn Clark, and Sandy Crosby went to PABA (Professional Animal Behavior Associates)  conference in Guelph, educating and updating us the latest scientific research on Dog-Dog interactions. The three day conference was based on Assessing dog / dog aggression and what motivates each specific dog to behave and react in the way they do, techniques for assessing animals and assisting owners in reducing the issues they are having with their own dogs.  Presenters were as follows:
Gary Landsberg D.V.M. Diplomat of the American College of Veterinary Behaviorists and the European college of Behavioural Medicine.
Marc Bekoff Professor Emeritus of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology,
Suzanne Hetts Ph.D Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist
Dan Estep Ph. D. Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist
Nancy Williams M.A. R.V.T. Associate Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist
