At Carolark - The Canine Learning Centre we specialize in effective, reward based, good-manners training for the family dog.  Our goal is to help your dog become a well-behaved companion and family member through the use of dog-friendly, positive, training methods.  We are trainers that may use clickers, which means that we use a clicker or a marker word to tell the dog it has got it right and food, toys or praise to reward that behaviour.

Please come to class with a flat buckle or snap collar, and a 6-foot leather or nylon leash.

No retractable leashes for the safety of our other clients.

Please call the office to register for any of our classes.

We do not use choke collars, prong collars or electronic shock devices.

Puppy Manners and Socialization

Prerequisite: For puppies under 16 weeks of age and their families.  We recommend a booster vaccination seven days prior to starting class or your veterinarian’s approval to attend.

Where: Carolark The Canine Learning Centre

What you Learn:  The first steps to starting your puppy off to become a well-mannered, happy and confident dog.

We will be working on bite inhibition, nipping, chewing, socialization towards people and other dogs in a safe well-controlled environment. Toilet training, Polite greeting, Sit, Down, Come and the very important OFF!

If your class is not due to start for a while you are welcome to attend and audit the classes to give yourselves a head start on your new arrival.

Why: To give your puppy the best start in life.  There are specific periods in puppy’s lives where good socialization is critical for a happy confident dog.  If handled incorrectly you can end up with a nervous dog that is fearful and may as an adult bite people or act aggressively to other dogs. We want to ensure that your puppy has positive experiences with all the new people, places and things they encounter to give them the very best start possible.  We encourage you to bring children to the class so the puppies can get used to having little people around.
