Continue the education and fun!   Help your dog reach its full potential!

We offer two versions of Level 2:

Saturday afternoon focuses on introducing behaviours required for the fun and gentle competition sport of Rally Obedience.

During the week, level 2 classes focus on the ten steps required to earn a Canine Good Citizen certificate.

Ten tests that we work on are:

  1. Accepting a friendly stranger:   a key in good neighbour relations with adults and children.  Owner shakes hands with a friendly stranger.

  2. Patiently sitting for petting:  a test for shyness and resentment.  The dog allows a friendly stranger to pet it while out with its handler.
  3. Appearance & grooming:   owner’s care and sense of responsibility show in how he keeps his dog.  Dog accepts grooming and examination from a stranger.
  4. Out for a walk:   illustrates handler’s control of the dog.  Dog walks politely on a loose leash.
  5. Walking through a crowd:   shows that the dog moves around in a crowd without being unduly distressed and is under handler’s control.
  6. Commands:   sit, down, stay & come:   this illustrates that the dog has been trained and responds well to its handler/owner.
  7. Praise/Interactions:   shows the dog's relationship with its owner and that the dog can be calmed down easily.
  8. Reaction to passing dogs:   the test demonstrates that the dog behaves politely around other dogs.
  9. Distractions:   shows that the dog is confident when faced with common distractions such as loud noises, wheelchairs, crutches, baby stroller, etc.
  10. Supervised isolation:  this test shows that the dog can be left with someone other than its usual handler and will maintain its training and good manners.

So keep the education going and help your dog be the best he/she can possibly be!
